Faster than the police allow? Not with TUNE IT! SAFE!. For 17 years the initiative has presented a car in original police livery every year that complies with all road safety rules. Supported by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, the nationwide campaign promotes safe tuning and shows what is possible within the road approval regulations. It is funded exclusively by sponsors.
For the eighth time, AC Schnitzer played a leading role in the campaign car. The fully electric BMW i4 by AC Schnitzer combines a dynamic, powerful and sporty appearance with full compliance and attention to sustainability. It was not the company's first electric police car: twelve years earlier, AC Schnitzer had already equipped the electric police MINI for TUNE IT! SAFE!. Today AC Schnitzer offers extensive programmes for hybrid and electric vehicles.
The AC Schnitzer suspension spring kit lowers the i4 by about 20 to 25 mm front and rear for optimum road holding, and was tested on the Nürburgring Nordschleife and on public roads. AC4 Flow Forming wheels in BiColor silver and black measure 8.5J x 20 inch with Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3 in 255/35 R 20 at the front, and 9.5J x 20 inch with 265/35 R 20 at the rear.
The aero package raises downforce with front spoiler elements, front splitter, front side wings, a side design package, roof spoiler, carbon rear spoiler, rear side wings and rear apron protection film. Inside, aluminium pedals, footrest, keyholder and a Black Line iDrive controller cover. Hella supplied the police signal system, while Foliatec livery and SECURLUX security film in the side windows completed the look. Every part fitted was tested for road approval.
